The New SkyTrain Expansion is 21 kms in distance linking Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and Coquitlam. Various contractors will build a total of 13 new stations on the line. The Elevated Guideway runs primarily in industrial areas and existing road and rail corridors.

By erecting the Guideway with an overhead erection truss, SAR minimizes disruption to the traveling public, business community and residential neighborhoods.  There are a total of 4 trusses for this project. Each truss remains above the roadway, negating the need for road closures as would be typically required if large cranes were used for the erection process of the monolithic beams. Less heavy equipment is used to transport Guideway segments to the worksite. For efficiency, operations are conducted in several areas at the same time.

The construction started September 15, 1999 and is scheduled for completion April 2001. Currently, SAR Transit's Precast yard has produced over 1,500 segments. There are 85 columns standing with 12 spans of the guideway assembled. SAR Transit has employed over 500 people for this project.
